This idea came over from Frugal Family Fun Blog! Check out their post here. When I saw this idea I knew Cassie would love it! All you need are some recycled plastic bottles, water, food coloring, dish soap, and whatever else you choose (we even added baking soda and vinegar!) You could add funnels too....we did it so spontaneous we forgot! Now your ready for some Pretend Potions!

ReplyDeleteIt brings to mind the kind of play I recall experimenting with as a child outside in the summer. I think there is something so free and relaxing about playing with water, and making "potions".
this is a lovely, and inexpensive form of play that provides almost limitless opportunities for creativity. Daydreaming and
"lollygagging"are words that come to mind when I see these photos, as well as all kinds of learning. :)

ReplyDeleteI've been saving up my bottles and containers all summer, and bought some teeny spoons and scoops at a thrift shop last week. I can't wait til my daycare kiddies are back in September to try this!
ReplyDeleteOh, my son loves making the potions, mixing different colors, adding soap, salt (for some reason it's very important to him), vinegar and soda. Lately he also makes his own "soups" with a bit of juice for color, sugar, salt (yep, again),dried herbs and peanut butter. He actually tries the concoctions, adjusts for seasoning (usually adding more salt and more sugar) and says "mmm, this is very good! wanna try a bit, Mama?"
