Creating Bubble Snakes

This is an activity that has occupied my daughter on and off for the past month.  It is so simple with minimal supplies and so FUN! We were inspired by the post from Come Together Kids: Bubble Snake Maker. (BTW a Fantastic blog for kid fun!)

To create bubble snakes you need:
a plastic water bottle cut off on the bottom
a rubber band
a sock
dish soap
a little water

Place the sock over the opening of the bottom of the bottle and use a rubber band to fasten it on.

Dip the the sock end into soapy water.  Use more soap than water and start experimenting.  At first it wasn't working, but once the sock had the right amount of soap it seems to work very easily. SO don't give will work!  As you can see a long bubble snake was formed.

And more.....

And more....

Bubbles are always so much fun.  I think whenever an activity involves bubbles,  it is always a HIT!

  1. We just did this, too. But with a washcloth. I wish I had read this, socks would have been so much easier!

    1. You can do it with a wash cloth but I am not sure it is any easier with a sock!

  2. So fun! I think we will be trying this with a twist... thanks for the inspiration!

    1. I've seen it done with adding color too and we tried that , but it didn't turn out as beautiful. SO we stuck to the plain soap.

  3. I'll have to try this again. I did it last year and failed but maybe it wasn't enough soap, plus we were at the park and the kids were getting the soap tub all frothy. Michael and I will have to try it at home. I have some dish soap set aside especially for bubbles and haven't used it! Time for some bubble fun!

    1. It didn't work for us at first either. Just keep trying and it will work. My daughter has left the sock to dry with soap on it and dipped it in water and it has worked too. Have fun!

  4. What a great idea!
My children will love this, we will be making a snake bubble for sure!

  5. How great is this! My littles love bubbles so I think they will find a bubble snake pretty cool, thanks for the great ideas!
I've been browsing your blog and will use a few of your craft ideas to keep my 2 occupied this summer. Looking forward to all the fun we will have :)
