We made a bird nest. I have no idea where this came from....but it seemed like a good one. Even the neighborhood kids wanted to make one too. Really.
To create our bird nest we gathered:
dirt
pine needles
leaves
grass
flower petals
sticks
We also added:
yarn
poly fill stuffing
water
Then I thought we better add some plastic wrap (or use a bag) underneath everything so we could get the nest out when it dries.
We mixed up all the things and tried to mold them together a bit (truly experimental). Adding more water or dirt as needed.
Fortunately, we had some fairly warm days so we left the nest to dry and harden for a few days and this is our finished nest. What do you think?
What have you and your children made with natural materials?
I think that is sensational. I would love to try it with my kids. We tried to make bird nests out of pine needles and leaves and glue..... why didn't I think of mud!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ali. Hope you enjoy making nests.
DeleteI absolutely love this! We love nature, and making things from natural materials. Thanks so much for the inspiration x
ReplyDeleteThank you and your welcome. You are inspiring many many others too. Your kids are so fortunate to have you.
DeleteTotally love this! Creating something from natural material is so much fun. All the more when it also includes dirt - or soil - as we call here in India - as per British English :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rashmie. You are always so inspiring.
DeleteThis is so cool. I think we will try it once our weather warms up again. It would have been even more amazing if the birds actually liked the nest :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. That would be crazy if a bird would actually like the nest, but they have their own ways of making nests and they use much less dirt than we did!
