We Love Dandelions

"To some the dandelion is a weed;  but not to me, unless it takes its share of space,  for I always miss these little earth stars when they are absent.  They intensify the sunshine shimmering on the lawn, making one smile involuntarily when seeing them.  Moreover, they awaken pleasant memories,  for a child in which dandelions had no part is a defective experience." ~Excerpted from "The Home Acre," by E.P. Roe

We love dandelions here.  C has been picking me little dandelion bouquets each day and marveling at these "earth stars"! The quote above is great..couldn't imagine a childhood without them.  We even made a Dandelion Heart as part of our Land Art collection.

Now most of our dandelions are going to seed, but still they are so exciting to a child. Now we have dandelion "puff ball" bouquets!

What have you been creating with dandelions?

  1. We love dandelions too! At the moment they are the only flowers we have in the garden and my son picks bouquets of them for me!

  2. My daughter just picked the whole yard clear of them this weekend...giving a bouquet to each family member. Too sweet!

  3. I love and cherish dandelions. They cradle a piece of my childhood ,and each time I see them, it is awakened. Most certainly not a weed, not in my book! The final picture in this post is a perfect illustration of why this marvelous flower is in fact no a weed xx

    1. Yes.... These poor flowers are always thought of as weeds in our lawns of America. I have dandelions all over and there would be no other way! I loved your pics of your daughter with dandelions on facebook.

  4. I remember your dandelions from last year! They're a favorite of ours too. When they first popped up a few weeks ago, my toddler became fascinated by them, and now searches them out on walks. I love that you posted about this!

  6. Dandelions make great paint brushes. We use them around 4th of July for painting pictures of fireworks :)
