Making Art on the Scanner

Have you ever made Art on the Scanner?  We had so much FUN with this. It began with my daughter wondering about how the scanner worked.  I showed her how it was like a camera inside taking pictures and the rest is history.  Keep reading to find out all the kinds of scanner art that we made.

At first I told C to put her hands underneath the scanner hood to print her hands.  She loved that!

Then she put her head underneath (close your eyes....for safety!)  Using the color ink made it super cool! A pretty good representation.

Then Mom tried it!

Then Daddy!

Then lastly, we put some of C's trinkets and treasures to create a Scanner Collage. My daughter thought that was AWESOME!

I know we'll be creating more Scanner Art.  It is such an accessible Art Activity if you have a Scanner or copy machine nearby.

  2. We love making scanner art, so I've written about it often, from spooky Halloween Scanner Art, to botanical papers, collages and landscapes. I for one am addicted! Not sure how to share images here though!

  4. This is probably a dumb question, but how did you clean the scanner afterwards? My face would leave some sort of smudge....

    1. I didn't, but if you need too... take a lens cloth (or soft cotton cloth) with a drop of water to clean the scanner.

  5. I never thought about it before. Our scanner is not on my daughter's height or we would run out of ink pretty quickly :)

  6. Spooky and fun. Now, I have to get a new scanner. Our old one stopped working years ago and we never got around to getting another one...
