Halloween Cards with Stamps, Stickers, and Sharpies

We made some pretty awesome Halloween cards over the weekend!  As you can see we've been practicing our spider web and spider drawing skills!  My last post tells you how to draw a simple spider web if you want to check it out here.  We were at Grandma M's and she presented us with some blank cards, stamps, stickers, and sharpie markers and we were good to go!  Here are some of the cards that C and I made.  We made over 20 or so cards!

Here are all the supplies. (stickers gone!)  Grandma M was so Generous to let us use her crafting supplies!!!

I know this isn't the happiest picture, but this is the one that came out! C really did have a wonderful time making her Halloween cards! These cards will be sent to friends and family for the Halloween Season!

Spider Web Drawings

We've been creating spider web drawings! Cassie loves making them and it is actually quite simple and gratifying!  This may not be how a spider actually weaves a web, but the way we have been drawing them makes it super easy for a child!  Having been an art teacher,  my experience has been that all kids love to draw spider webs and spiders!  I know I do too!!! Here is one of many webs with spiders C has drawn.  She has become a little obsessed!

To create a web,  first begin with a small circle in the middle and draw a larger circle around each successive one.  It should look like a target.

Then add lines from the middle circle to the edge of the paper or as close as you can come to it!  C never really wanted to draw the lines to the edge.

Here is C with her finished orange web and now she started to draw spiders.  Make sure to have 8 legs!!

She wanted to draw lots of spiders and insects caught in the web!!!!

Here is just some of the spider webs C has drawn!  She is very proud of all her webs and spiders. This is a great activity for Halloween or when learning about Spiders and their webs.  Kids are always fascinated with spiders webs!  Be sure to check out some cool links about spiders and webs below!

Halloween Slime Exploration

We made Halloween Slime!  Some people call it Gak, but since Halloween is coming up we thought Slime would be a more appropriate name!  We also colored it orange by mixing red and yellow food coloring!  Maybe next we'll make some Black Slime! Keep reading to find out the recipe for slime and all the other FUN C had with it!

Recipe for Slime:

(we got the recipe from Family Fun Magazine here)

Mix together 3/4 cup of warm water, 1 cup of white glue and few drops of food coloring (we used red and yellow) in one bowl.  In another bowl, combine 1 1/3 cups of warm water and 4 teaspoons of Borax (this is usually in the laundry detergent section of the grocery store).  Note: Borax should not be ingested and can cause skin reactions with some----so be careful---use your discretion! Pour the contents of the first bowl into the other bowl and let sit for 1 minute without stirring.  Now you are ready to EXPLORE!

C enjoyed mixing it up!

C enjoyed just kneading it pushing into it!

She had FUN feeling it with her feet and stomping on it (making pancakes)!!! (her idea!)

Lastly, she tried out cutting the slime with scissors and that was a Big Hit too!

Wouldn't it be FUN to have a batch of water beads and slime out for kids to feel for a Halloween Party?

C really enjoyed creating the sand art!  She surprised me with how well she poured the little bags of sand into the funnel and bottle.  I guess she has Great fine motor skills!

Finished and on to her next creation! The COOL thing is that the green and yellow sand glows--- which is always a plus in my book!

Here is Cassie with her finished Halloween Sand Art!  Just happened to be wearing this Halloween shirt too!  I couldn't get her to be very serious for the picture,  but then it goes with the Halloween theme!

Fall Tree Birthday Cards!

Remember the tissue scraps we had left over from our Bleeding Tissue Fall Leaves? We couldn't just throw them away,  so we made Fall Birthday cards for Daddy!  He always enjoys Fall because his  birthday is in October and it is his favorite season.... so these were the perfect cards for him!

To make the cards we first folded some paper into cards and then drew some trees without leaves.  Then added some grass!

Next we simply glued our tissue scraps and used them as Fall leaves for our Trees!   Cassie made two and I made one! So FUN!

Here is our array of cards that we made.  Daddy LOVED them all!

And he especially LOVED his sign made by C !!!
